Carte Hotel San Diego Downtown, Curio Collection by Hilton

I stayed here overnight to kickoff my birthday vacation. Check-in was smooth and the woman at the front desk was super sweet. She explained that the destination fee of $30 could be used at the rooftop bar/restaurant and so my partner and I headed up to grab a quick bite since we hadn't eaten all day. We ordered the calabrese pizza and we liked it a lot. The salami was a little salty, but overall, we enjoyed the pizza. However, I woke up at 4am with the worst stomach pain and was throwing up and sick for hours. I could barely sleep since I kept having to run to the bathroom. My partner had to wake up to start working at 5:30am and so we were just taking turns running to the bathroom. I messaged through the Hilton app to give feedback on the pizza and our food poisoning we were dealing with. Jordan was very helpful and refunded the cost of the pizza and sent up some hot tea for us, which we appreciated. I did love the hotel and it was in a great location. However, the food poisoning derailed my birthday celebrations as I had to cancel reservations due to feeling sick and not being able to keep food down.

The gym, the location and the staff are great! Frances is quickly becoming my favorite. We have chatted the last 2 times I’ve stayed here and his customer service is top notch. He always checks to make sure you have what you need and more. Attention to details is a strength of his and he’s always willing to go the extra mile!

Modern hotel, looks more like a business hotel than a vacation place. They charge a 30$ destination fee per night which you can use for food at the 2 restaurants they have. The room is spacious and modern, however, can get noisy at night. Takes time to get it warm. Gym looks really nice and very spacious. Location: pretty close to little italy, but it is a noisy hotel The pool was closed, and with no warning, which was terrible, they offered we go to hard rock for the pool, but seemed very complicated since we won’t have rooms to change. And obviously will pay the transportation fees.
